Suzuki in action in the 13th Raid de Himalaya 2011

About the rally –

Raid de Himalaya is among the most extreme motorsport events organized at an international level. It runs on the highest altitudes as compared to others including the Paris Dakar Rally passing thru the highest motorable road in the world Khardung la! Most of the ride is through boulders, snow capped peaks, gushing streams and at times, temperature below -20 degree Celsius makes it very challenging! On an average, the rally covers a distance of 300 kms every day in this approximately 1800 km and week-long motoring event. The only Indian motorsport event listed on the off-road rallies calendar of FIM (Federation Internationale Motorcyclisme)

On Suzuki's Performance -

The Suzuki performed flawlessly and absolutely trouble free with its peak performance thru out the rally even at the highest altitudes, extreme conditions of sub zero temperatures and challenging terrain! Yet again Suzuki proves its durability and top notch performance even in the toughest conditions!

The Suzuki was piloted by Suresh Babu and awarded the John Mark James trophy for exceptional performance!

”I enjoyed the rally thoroughly on my Suzuki, which ran and handled like silk on such treacherous terrain in such high altitudes of over 17,000 ft where there is so little oxygen and sub zero temperatures, which is difficult for both man and machine! The Suzuki adjusted itself so well with its intelligent fuel injection and never lost any power, so much to the extent she ran absolutely trouble free all thru the raid that had to only adjust the chain tension and clean up! In fact had a fantastic rally running in top three until the penultimate stage where I hit a huge boulder resulting in a front tyre puncture 60 kms before the finish and lost over an hour still managing to finish in a strong 6th position! Look forward in capitalizing on what we have learned the next year!”
